Piéra Forde is an award-winning actor, writer and creator who has established herself through work on high profile Australian and international films, television shows, web-series and a prominence in the online book community.
As an avid bookworm, escapism and the allure of something more set Piéra on her path and saw her fall in love with the nuance and parallels of the fantasy and science fiction genres. Drawn to stories rich in world-building, seeped in magic and exploring the complexities of the female psyche, Piéra's stories often centre queer women in power, navigating the trials of a fantastical setting, and grounded with relatable real-world obstacles. In 2019, Piéra wrote, produced and starred in the adaptation of the multi-award winning fantasy novel NEVERNIGHT by best-selling author Jay Kristoff as part of Screen Australia's Skip Ahead Initiative. She has also written a number of short adaptations and original films.
Piéra's recent film, FORSWORN, is currently doing it's festival run and has been successful accepting into a number of high-profile festivals. She has recently finished her first play, a retelling of the story of Medusa, in conjunction with CoCo and Audentis Theatre with the help of The Empire Theatre in Toowoomba.
Piéra's upcoming slate will continue to focus on female-led fantasy stories.
